The Upper Don Flood Alleviation Scheme covers a catchment area of 274km square, located in North West Sheffield. The area lies at the foot of the Pennine hills from the outlying districts of Stocksbridge and Oughtibridge passing through urbanised districts such as Hillsborough to Sheffield city centre.
The catchment has a history of flooding including the devastating floods that took place in 2007.
The scheme aims to reduce the risk of flooding from the River Don and its main tributaries such as the River Loxley whilst delivering wider regeneration, environmental and social benefits.
